Women in Football is especially proud to announce the latest organisation to sign up to our Corporate Membership programme: The Football Association.
The programme gives employers and their people access to WIF’s extensive range of resources to build on the work already in place to support a gender-equal working culture and support women’s professional development.
Women in Football’s team of experts will work with FA personnel to determine how best to focus the available resources, creating a bespoke package to suit the individual needs of the association.
The FA joins several top-flight football clubs, as well as the Premier League itself, the EFL, and other employers such as Sky Sports and News UK, in making a big commitment to gender equality by becoming a corporate member of WIF.
Women in Football CEO Yvonne Harrison said: “It means the world to us to welcome The Football Association as our newest corporate member of Women in Football – but more importantly, it’s fantastic news for The FA’s workforce and the whole of the English game.
“Organisations function at their best when their staff reflect the diversity of the community they serve. So we’re really excited to be working with The FA, because its influence as England’s governing body means the benefits will spread far and wide – for the women who deserve equal status at work, and for football right across the board.”
The FA recently published its new four-year women’s and girls’ game strategy, Reaching Higher, which outlines the governing body’s strong commitment in this area. Its previous women’s and girls’ strategy, Inspiring Positive Change, coincided with record growth across the sport, with more women and girls playing, coaching, officiating, and supporting the flourishing professional game than ever before. Reaching Higher aims to build on the transformational success achieved to date and strives to continue working to unlock the full potential of the women’s and girls’ game.
Yasir Mirza, The FA’s Director of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, said: “We’re very pleased to be working with Women in Football, and this new partnership will help to build on our ongoing commitment to make our game truly inclusive and accessible for all women and girls. We’ve made significant progress in this area in recent years, including our gender pay gap, and our leadership and recruitment efforts have continued to improve diversity across The FA.
"This new partnership is a natural next step for our organisation to ensure that our working culture continues to provide opportunities for growth and development at all levels.”
