Crucial conversations continued at the House of Lords this week as Women in Football hosted key figures from the world of sport to hear from Debbie Hewitt MBE and discuss gender equality in football.
On Monday 16 September 2024, Women in Football invited a group of their members and other decision-makers from the football industry to the UK House of Lords to discuss how the football industry can work towards gender equality. The event marked a year since the non-profit organisation launched their Open Doors Agenda framework, to ensure that women working in the game, on and off the pitch, feel safe, welcome and supported.
To mark this occasion they invited the chair of the Football Association, Debbie Hewitt MBE for a fireside chat, who was joined in conversation by WIF chair Ebru Köksal. The pair shared their fascinating insights from their successful and varied careers, while the room filled with palpable excitement as guests connected with one another to continue the conversation overlooking the River Thames.
The event received wonderful feedback from guests – including star speaker Debbie Hewitt MBE, who describes it as a "fantastic event" and sent a heartfelt thank you to everyone involved. You can find out more about WIF's Open Doors Agenda for reforming football governance – and add your name to the list of supporters.
The event was sponsored by Evelyn Partners, the UK’s leading integrated wealth management and professional services group, and was made possible thanks to Baron Tom Watson of Wyre Forest who enabled WIF to host their reception at the House of Lords.
