INSPIRATIONAL WIF LEADERSHIP COURSE NOW COMPLETED BY 600 WOMEN

The Women in Football  Leadership Course in partnership with Barclays has now been completed by over 600 women. The milestone was reached following  the recent course sessions hosted by M&C Saatchi in London in May 2024.

The total cohort of more than 600  hugely talented current and aspiring female leaders in the game stands as a very proud achievement for WIF, who are looking forward to continuing to grow that number.

In October 2016, alongside their lead partner Barclays, Women in Football hosted their inaugural Leadership Course to create a safe space for women to who want to build careers in football. Since then, they have continually evolved and developed the course to empower more women with the tools they need to become great leaders –  within the industry and beyond.

Women in Football recognise that significant work is still needed to achieve equality in the football industry but are proud to be leading the charge. From the women who have attended thanks to a Barclays bursary, a WIF corporate member or partner place, to those alumnae who have personally funded their places, all these women have invested in their future careers and personal development. The entire WIF team is grateful for their participation and impressed by their passion, engagement levels and commitment.

Of course, the programme needs planning and delivering , and it relies on leaders who are willing to provide their time and share their knowledge and expertise. The course wouldn’t be possible its dedicated course tutors and the WIF events team whose input over the years has helped to make the course and its alumnae the successes they are today. WIF remain committed to providing greater access to opportunities for women in, the football industry.

Many of those 600 alumnae have given glowing testimonials about the course, and among the most recent is Lara Pegg, HR Manager at Wolves Foundation. Lara describes the course as “a positive, safe and inclusive environment to allow women to share stories and experiences," adding: "It’s amazing to see the progress of Women in Football and the increasing presence of women in leadership positions across the industry.”

The next sessions on the Women in Football Leadership Course in partnership with Barclays take place online in July 2024.
