Barclays WSL poppy shirts up for auction to help raise funds for The Royal British Legion

Every year Premier League, Championship, League One and League Two clubs wear a poppy on their official match day kit for the games in the lead-up to Remembrance weekend.

You may have noticed that Barclays WSL players also wore special shirts for their fixtures too, including US star Alex Morgan of Tottenham Hotspur plus Chelsea's Beth England and Ji So-yun along with other star players from the Blues, Liverpool and Brighton.

This year MatchWornShirt has partnered up with The Royal British Legion to help raise money to provide essential support to members of the armed forces community by offering football fans a unique opportunity to bid for these collectable shirts .

What’s more, the shirts will be personally signed by the player, making it the ultimate piece of memorabilia.

This is one of the first times that poppy kits for the women's teams are being auctioned to help raise vital funding and awareness for the work of The Royal British Legion.

The money raised helps provide essential support to members of the armed forces community who made a sacrifice - both physically and mentally - serving their country.

The Legion is the country’s largest Armed Forces charity but is completely dependent on the generosity of the public. It is their aim to provide lifelong support for both serving and ex-serving personnel and their families.

By winning one of these shirts not only will you receive a highly unique piece of memorabilia, but you will also provide a helping hand to some of the most vulnerable within our society. You can go to https://www.britishlegion.org.uk/about-us/who-we-are  to find out more about The Legion and how your contribution will have an impact.

The shirts are now on auction at www.matchwornshirt.co.uk/poppy and will be available to fans across the globe. In times where supporters cannot get close to football, this is the perfect opportunity to bring a piece of the match to you.

The auctions close as follows:

Tottenham ends on 27-11-20
Brighton ends on 28-11-20
Chelsea ends on 29-11-20
Liverpool ends on 5-12-20

To mitigate any potential health risk, all shirts will be professionally disinfected using UV-C light before being shipped to the winner. This will preserve ‘match worn’ elements like mud and grass stains, but will eliminate traces of DNA, bacteria and virus.
