We are delighted to confirm that our next event, in collaboration with our friends at Fare, is part of the #BlackLivesMatter in football campaign.
And what a brilliant panel of guests we have lined up for you on Tuesday, 6 October at 12:00 BST.
Women in Football board member Lungi Macebo, will make the introductions before handing over to top broadcaster Jess Creighton, who is host for the hour-long webinar.
A stellar panel of guests featuring Leon Mann (BCOMS), Frances Cusack (Prospect Union), Hayley Bennett (HTVB Consulting) and Fran Brown (Goals4Girls) will share their personal journies and cover topics that include looking at the importance of language, daily actions, how to be a better ally and raise aware of our unconscious bias.
Leon is the founder of both the Black Collective of Media in Sport (BCOMS), set up to address the under-representation of black people in the industry, and Football’s Black List, which shines a light on the achievements of the community in football – but away from the pitch. He is a leading sports consultant and film-maker, who is passionate about sport and equality.
Frances is a Legal Officer at Prospect Union where she specialises in unconscious bias training and advising companies on best practices in recruitment to alleviate bias. Prospect has worked alongside Women in Football for many years offering expert employment advice to our members.
Previously with Kick It Out, Hayley is a multi award-winning Diversity and Inclusion Consultant and equality campaigner who specialises in delivering workshops on race, allyship and inclusive leadership. She is also co-founder of Nutmegs, a football community for women and non-binary people of colour, dedicated to creating new inclusive spaces to connect and enjoy the beautiful game.
And completing this outstanding quartet of panelists is Fran, the Managing Director & CEO of Goals4Girls, a football development programme which works with young women aged between 11-16. The programme aims to break down barriers and reduce inactivity amongst young women in sport by raising their aspirations, self-confidence, self-esteem and mind set and inspiring them to set and achieve their goals.
