In conversation: Dr Rimla Akhtar MBE talks with Jane Purdon

Dr Rimla Akhtar joined Jane Purdon for the latest special series of Women in Football webinars

Women in Football's latest webinar featured the inspirational Dr Rimla Akhtar MBE in conversation with our CEO Jane Purdon.

Rimla was the first Muslim and Asian woman on the FA Council and in 2015 was awarded an MBE for her contribution to equality and diversity in sport. She also holds a portfolio of additional strategic and boardroom roles.

Following an introduction by Poonam Majithia,  the first beneficiary of our inaugural Vikki Orvice Memorial Director Development Scheme, Rimla shared her inspiring journey and words of wisdom with another sell-out audience.

In a Q&A with Jane, Rimla also spoke about topics ranging from the importance of mentoring, male allies, cultural stereotyping, whether this is the greatest-ever Liverpool team and her work with the 'Get On Board' campaign, plus a whole lot more.
