Women in Football members who have graduated from The FBA Professional Master in Football Business course
Ever since Women in Football's ground-breaking #WhatIf campaign was launched in May 2018, The Football Business Academy has offered proactive support.
The FBA has previously offered our members discounted scholarships to their prestigious Professional Master in Football Business course as a #WhatIf pledge.
And we are delighted to confirm The FBA has now offered to continue and increase this incredibly generous pledge, meaning that a total of 6 of our members will be able to receive 50% off their fees – 4 for the September 2020 Edition and 2 for the March 2021 Edition.
Kristian Dobrev, Chief Partnerships Officer, The FBA, said: "We’ve been incredibly pleased with the enthusiasm and excellence which the #WhatIf Scholarship recipients have demonstrated in the past, and we wanted to continue attracting future female leaders into our FBA Family.
“Now more than ever, with an economic recession looming due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, we wanted to up the ante and support even more women so that they can come out of this crisis with the right tools and confidence to help shape the future of football.”
Jane Purdon, CEO, Women in Football, said: "This is another statement of intent by The FBA who are not just understanding the value of encouraging women to pursue their dream of working in the football industry, but are actively trying to help make that happen.
"We thank The FBA for continuing to support and recognise the value of the #WhatIf movement, and look forward to following the journies of those women who are selected to take up this incredible opportunity."
Listen to Marcela Caballeros speak about the course
For those not familiar with the Professional Master in Football Business course, the first half of the 1-year Master programme starts with two online modules in which an international selection of football industry experts deliver their core courses through a bespoke learning management system.
An example of this includes Women’s Football Development, now taught by former Tottenham Hotspur Ladies FC General Manager Nicole Allison .
For the second part, candidates get a 3-month internship at clubs and football organisations around the world, followed by an on-campus module held at the esteemed Nova School of Business & Economics, just outside Lisbon, during which additional courses, relevant field trips across Europe, and a real-life Student Business Project prepare you comprehensively for a career in the industry.
Throughout the entire course a lot of emphasis is also placed on networking, which is amplified further with the candidates’ participation at Soccerex events.
Among the partners of The FBA there are reputable clubs such and organisations as Olympique Lyonnais, Benfica, Common Goal, EFDN, Fnatic and Galatasaray.
At the start of the year Brighton & Hove Albion FC became the latest club to join, with their Head of People & Culture, Rose Read, saying: “We have been hugely impressed with the work being done by The Football Business Academy through their masters programme.
"By partnering with them we will be offering real-life experience for their students, working closely with various departments including our marketing, media and commercial teams; with the aim of continuing to build the club’s profile within both the men’s and women’s game.”
So how do you take advantage of this incredible pledge? You will need to be a Women in Football member, and have a conversational level of English, as well as hold a Bachelor degree OR have a minimum of three years’ work experience in any field.
