The whole essence of the #WhatIf movement has been to provide opportunities for girls and women in football, whether playing, coaching, working or engaging in any other area of the beautiful game.
And since Women in Football's initial campaign launch in May 2018, this continues to happen at a pace.
Just take a look at the impact that the 100 FC Female Coaching Programme has had, and continues to have for women looking to progress as a coach.
Back in May this year, and in line with the FA’s national strategy for women’s and girls’ football, which aims to double participation by 2020, the Amateur FA, Middlesex FA and London FA made a #WhatIf pledge to recruit and support 100 new female coaches.
100 FC is a fully-funded coaching pathway programme for females (16+) across London where the coaches are being supported as they take their first steps in coaching, receiving ongoing support.
The programme aims to address the shortage of female coaches in the Capital and break down barriers experienced by women, by providing equal opportunities and giving female coaches the opportunity to flourish, in a safe and developmental coaching environment.
To date, 83 women have attended an introduction to coaching workshop delivered by the FA Coach Mentor team of Katie Phillipson and Emily Hill, see photo above.
The new coaches have also started coaching placements, which has benefited 42 women and girls' clubs in London. They will also soon be embarking on their FA Level 1 coaching course, whilst funding will be provided for 20 coaches on their FA Level 2.
The programme provides coach mentor support, networking and CPD opportunities.
And it that is not enough, 100 FC will fund 100 female coaches every season for the next three years!
