Ebru Köksal confirmed as guest speaker at The Athens Women's Football Summit

Ebru Köksal - will be speaking at the Athens Women's Football Summit

Women in Football Chair Ebru Köksal heads a stellar line-up of football influencers speaking at The Athens Women’s Football Summit on 16/17 October.

Ebru, a Senior Advisor at J Stern & Co and member of the Scottish FA Equality and Diversity Advisory Board, was the first woman to be elected to the Executive Board of European Club Association in September 2010.

A former consultant to both UEFA and FIFA, Ebru is joined by the likes of Mayi Cruz Blanco (Global Head of Athlete Programmes at ADECCO Group), Rupinder Bains (Director on the Board of The FA & Member of the Women’s Football Board), Shamila Kohestani (Former Afghan women's team captain), Amy Wanday (Founder & CEO at African Sports Network) and Tracy Hamm (Head Coach at University of California).

The two-day event in Athens aims to promote diversity and real inclusion of women in football, including building an international consensus around the goals and ways these can be achieved.

Women and girls continue to face challenges and obstacles that have prevented them from achieving their potential to reach the top of their game. Whether that has been unconscious bias, sexist attitudes, unsafe environments, or under-representation in coaching, sports media, at board level or ownership.

The inaugural AWFS conference promises to produce some interesting and frank discussions along with a renewed determination to clear away barriers, neutralise the obstructionists, and seriously invest in the now and in the future.

Don't forget that Ebru will be sharing her experience and knowledge at Women in Football's Leadership Level 4 course on 31 October. For full details of this, and the Level 3 course, click here.
