FA WSL teams will be seen more widely across the world thanks to new broadcasting deal.
An historic overseas broadcast rights deal has been agreed with Sky Mexico and Nordic streaming company NENT which will give greater visibility to The Barclays FA Women's Super League.
The six-figure, three-year deal with the Football Association, which runs English women's football's top tier, covers Mexico, Central America, the Dominican Republic, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark.
The new 12-strong FA WSL season kicks-off this Saturday and although all games are set to be broadcast live globally for free on the FA's "Player" app, live WSL matches in the FA Player will be geo-blocked in the relevant countries as part of Sky Mexico and NENT's deal,
The new app will also stream selected highlights from the England Lionesses, the Women's FA Cup and the FA Women's Continental League Cup matches throughout the 2019/20 campaign.
"These two deals are a sign of the global strength and growing commercial prospects of the league," said Tom Gracey, the FA's senior broadcast manager.
"It is particularly pleasing that revenue will be targeted at the development of the FA Player.
"Through this reinvestment, our aim is to help improve the experience for viewers around the world and strengthen the brands of our competitions, clubs and players."
NENT has also acquired the exclusive Nordic media rights to top-division women’s football from Germany and France with over 100 matches to be shown live on NENT Group’s Viaplay streaming service every year until 2022.
Selected games will also be broadcast on NENT Group’s free-TV channels.
Pernille Harder, VfL Wolfsburg and 2017/18 UEFA Women’s Player of the Year added: “It’s a big step in the development of women’s football that a well-established broadcaster like Nordic Entertainment Group will now feature the very best women’s league football from Germany, France and the UK.
