It's a record-breaker for the women's game in Europe

Packed stands at the Wanda Metropolitano stadium watched Barcelona beat Atletico Madrid

An incredible crowd of 60,739 watched Barcelona beat Atletico Madrid 2-0 at the Wanda Metropolitano - a new record for a top-flight domestic women's game in Europe.

Barca edged ahead courtesy of Asisat Oshoala before England's Toni Duggan netted the second to clinch maximum Liga Femenina points and put Barca within three points of leaders Atletico.

Toni took to Twitter after the match to share her joy at an historic day for the game.

The previous record was also in a match involving Atletico, this time when they played at the San Mames Stadium against Athletic Bilbao when 48,121 attended their cup game in January.

There is no doubt that interest in the game is growing too, and last year saw the largest crowd for a domestic women's game when 45,423 packed out Wembley Stadium as Chelsea beat Arsenal 3-1 to win the FA Cup.
