Welcome to new board members (l to r) Prof Sue Bridgewater, Lungi Macebo and Ben Carter
Women in Football are delighted to announce the addition of three new members to the Board: Prof. Sue Bridgewater, Ben Carter and Lungi Macebo.
The trio will increase the Board to 10, joining current directors Jean Bevan, Liz Ellen, Ebru Köksal, Vikki Orvice, Hala Ousta, Jo Tongue and Chair, Anna Kessel.
“We are thrilled to welcome three outstanding new members to our board,” said Anna. “We undertook a rigorous recruitment process in which the quality of applicants was exceptional.
“Sue, Ben and Lungi will all bring differing, valuable experiences and skillsets to Women in Football as we near the end of our 10th anniversary year and enter a new, exciting chapter.
“The overwhelming response to the industry-changing #WhatIf campaign launch on 16 May highlighted, again, the positive impact of the work undertaken by Women in Football.
“With Sue, Ben and Lungi on board, we have added momentum and expertise to help drive us forward.”
Introducing the new board members:
Prof Sue Bridgewater directs the Centre for Sports Business at Liverpool University. She has worked in business and football education for over 20 years. Sue designed and directs the League Managers’ Association football manager Diploma and is a Non-Exec Director of the LMA's Institute. She has taught around the world for clients including FA Wales, Qatar FA, Qatar Stars League, Portuguese Football Federation, Azerbaijan FA.
Sue has run research projects in sport and football for the LMA, PFA, FA, Women in Football, Sport England, Department of Culture, Media & Sport. Sue is on the UEFA Research Grants and Awards Jury. She is the author of books including Football Brands, Football Management and written articles on topics including football sponsorship, women in football, football leadership and football employment.
Ben Carter is UK Marketing Director at Just Eat, a leading global marketplace for online food delivery. As a member of its Senior Leadership Team, Ben is instrumental in driving Just Eat's continued growth and has responsibility for consumer and restaurant marketing programmes across the UK.
Prior to joining Just Eat, Ben had an impressive track record, building impactful marketing strategies and driving the success of some of the UK’s fastest growing digital brands, including Betfair and most recently Notonthehighstreet.com where he established the brand as a lynchpin of the online retail landscape.
Lungi Macebo has worked in professional football for over 5 years, supporting the board of directors and senior management, she is efficient in planning, organising and working collaboratively to influence, design and deliver initiatives, essential to the accomplishment of the business.
She is currently the HR Manager at Charlton Athletic Football Club and has led on a number of projects, including the implementation of the EFL BAME Regulation 111 and the completion of the EFL Equality Code of Practice.
A graduate in Psychology, Lungi is especially interested in developing people and believes in the balance of diversity and representation at all levels of football.
