Sian Masey-Ellis - named as assistant referee for the Women's Champions League Final
Sian Massey-Ellis has been appointed as assistant referee for the Women's Champions League final between Lyon and Wolfsburg in Kiev on 24 May,
Sian, 32, an assistant referee in the Premier League and EFL who also officiates in the the WSL, said: "It’s a dream come true really, a great opportunity to work with girls from different countries and I’ve worked with some of the other girls too.
"The Champions League final is one of those things that you just think is never really going to happen for you.
"I did the quarter-final this season, so I really didn't expect to get the final and I was a little bit speechless. It just shows that hard work pays off really.
“I’ve been refereeing since I was 14 and it shows how much effort you have to put in, but it shows it can be achievable."
It is third time lucky for Sian, who has twice been a reserve official for the Women's Champions League final in 2013 and 2017. She was also an assistant ref in the final of Euro 2013 between Germany and Sweden in Finland.
Sian is part of an all-female team of officials on 24 May, with Czech referee Jana Adámková officiating and Croatia’s Sanja Rodak-Karšik completing the trio.
The fourth official will be Kateryna Monzul from Ukraine. The reserve official – Maryna Striletska is also from Ukraine.
