Women in Football seeking new board members

Women in Football (WiF) are celebrating our 10 year anniversary this season, and looking for new board members to take the organisation into an exciting new chapter.

The WiF Board provides overall policy and strategic direction and is responsible for key decision making for the organisation. WiF are looking to enhance our leadership and governance by increasing our board diversity.

WiF currently have two vacancies, please see below for more information and how to apply.

Women in Football is a network of 2,500 professional women working in and around the football industry who support and champion their peers.

WiF aims to improve women's representation at all levels of the game by:

– Celebrating women's achievement

– Challenging discrimination and lobbying for change

– Sharing professional contacts, advice and expertise

General responsibilities

To work with the Chair and other Board Members to consider papers presented at Board meetings, ensuring a consistent approach to the Board’s work.

To uphold the fiduciary duty invested in the role, especially in relation to WiF’s governance process and undertaking such duties in a way that adds to public confidence and trust in WiF.

Comply with any legal and regulatory requirements, and act within the confines of the WiF code of conduct.

Maintain absolute confidentiality with regard to any sensitive information received in the course of discharging duties as a Board Member.

Commit to acquiring appropriate levels of personal understanding and knowledge of all areas and issues of WiF’s work.

BOARD MEMBER PERSON SPECIFICATION

Experience

Women in Football are seeking two Board members who ideally have experience in one of the following areas:

– Membership and community building, Web Design and Social Media

– Experience of the national game from a Club perspective

– Experience of the national game from a playing, coaching, match official or medical perspective.

– Experience of marketing, sponsorship, partnerships, grant writing / research

– Experience of working in equalities specifically where gender equality intersects with other protected characteristics.

Knowledge

No formal qualifications are required but we are looking for people who possess the following qualities:

– A strong commitment to achieving the aims of Women in Football.

– A proven ability to think strategically and creatively and to challenge proposals with clear logical thinking.

– Understanding of the role and responsibilities of a Board Member.

Board Members should also have:

– A commitment to working in equalities specifically where gender equality intersects with other protected characteristics.

– Ability to act as a credible ambassador in dealings with key stakeholders.

– An ability to review Board papers and contribute to the discussions relating to the papers at Board meetings.

– A commitment to working alongside the Board dealing with confidential information.

– An ability to understand and critique straightforward management accounts.

Other

This is a volunteer opportunity, with only basic expenses covered. You will be expected to attend four board meetings per year.
