Former Deputy Chairman/Chief Executive at Harvey Nichols, Stacey Cartwright, has been nominated to join The FA Board and Council as an Independent Non-Executive Director.

The FA Board unanimously endorsed Stacey’s recommendation and the Council will decide whether to formally approve the appointment during its meeting on 18 April. If successful, Stacey will officially join the Board in June and replace Roger Devlin, who is due to step down having served a second three-year term, as the Senior Independent Non-Executive Director..

She would be the third woman on the Board, joining Kate Tinsley (Independent Non-Executive Director) and Rupinder Bains (Professional Game Representative), meaning that The FA Board successfully meets and complies with Sport England’s Code for Sports Governance’s requirement regarding a minimum of 30% of each gender on its Board and the appointment of a Senior Independent Director.

Stacey has vast experience in a business career spanning over 20 years and as well as her role at Harvey Nichols and Executive Vice President/CEO at Burberry, she has also held various finance roles and served as a non-executive on the Boards of GSK and Liverpool Football Club.

She said: "I am delighted to have been recommended for The Football Association’s Board and Council. Whilst steeped in history and tradition, the organisation is making significant strides to modernise its approach.

"I firmly believe that there has never been a more exciting or important time to be involved in the governance of football in England."

Greg Clarke, The FA Chairman, said: "Not only is Stacey well qualified for the position, she absolutely loves football. Subject to Council ratification, I look forward to welcoming her to The FA."
