At a loose end on Wednesday evening but want a fix of football and film? Then why not get ready for International Women's Day and go along to 'Moving The Goalposts', an evening at Rich Mix that has both!
Girls on Film, a film collective who aim to create platforms for women in film and beyond, are hosting the event which begins with a short documentary by two young film makers who "moved the goalposts"; an investigative documentary looking at the state of women's football in the UK today, its history and what the future holds.
This will be followed by a panel discussion featuring highly regarded sports journalist Suzanne Wrack (Guardian), Ro Jackson (founder of SLOWE), Fleur Cousens(founder of Goal Diggers FC and director of Who Moved The Goal Posts) plus Katee Hui, who is the founder of Hackney Laces,
Following the panel discussion, which will include the importance of team sports for women, and how this can be portrayed in art and the media, there will be a special screening of the modern classic Bend It Like Beckham, directed by Gurinder Chadha.
Admission is £5 and the night gets underway at 7pm.
