This Fan Girl was initially started as an ongoing photography series culminating in an exhibition.
"It was like a black & white movie had been turned into colour; the colour, the sound, the atmosphere. It was so magic, this is it…I want to come back. How come this world had been hidden from me, I had no idea."
Those words were spoken by photographer Hy Money about her first ever trip to a football match, taking her son to Selhurst Park as a treat for his eighth birthday.
Spurred into taking action photos, Hy broke down barriers and became widely acknowledged as the first woman sports photographer in Fleet Street.
Hy is one of a number of female football fans (including the former Editor in Chief of Cosmopolitan, Louise Court) featured in a fascinating new video by This Fan Girl.
Amy Drucquer, who co-founded the organisation with Laura Blake 18 months ago, explained: "This Fan Girl was initially started as an ongoing photography series, aiming to change the skewed representation of female football fans.
"When we started this project back in 2016, a Google search for the term returned only highly sexualised imagery and a depiction of female fans that we couldn't relate to. We spent the 2016/2017 season visiting and photographing the incredible diversity and passion of the female fans from every club within the Premier League, culminating in an end of season exhibition.
"Although we were very proud of our season's work, we knew we had more of a job to do in telling the stories as well as showing the faces of the female fan. That leads us on quite nicely to our latest video...
"We've spent the last few months visiting Crystal Palace, speaking to the fans of the club and understanding why they love CPFC, and how they contribute to making the club an incredible place to be."
